SUSTAINABILITY EFFORTS

Q: What is our philosophy in terms of sustainability?
A: Our nature retreat, community, and entire experience is designed around uncovering naturally inspired solutions that can be applied in the real world. There are personal steps that can actually be implemented into our daily lives and make us and our family happier. There are business innovations that can be incorporated into our practices to lower impact AND increase overall company value. We want to empower our guests with tools to take the necessary steps to become a part of a solution that our future generations lives depend on. The people and our planet need to be valued just as much as profit in order to reach true sustainability.

Q: How does TOJI try to offset the impact of air travel for international visitors?
A: At TOJI we are taking a 3 pronged hybrid approach to carbon offsetting.
1. We donate 2% of your retreat cost to 2 separate carbon offset programs, 1% to our internal programs, and 1% to the Costa Rican reforestation efforts of the Maleku tribe.
2. We have over 10 acres of natural wildlife and carbon sequestration reserved land at Dos Colinas that will never be built on and we continue to plant trees on.
3. We continually explore Costa Rica partnership opportunities for yoga and circularity retreats, as well as low-impact weddings to thoughtfully manage the number of annual guests that use air travel to experience TOJI Nature Retreat.
